King receives Russian delegation

His Majesty King Abdullah, on Sunday at Al Husseiniya Palace, received a Russian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, who conveyed a message to His Majesty from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the latest regional developments.
 
King Abdullah asked the Russian deputy foreign minister to convey his greetings to President Putin, reaffirming the deep-rooted Jordanian-Russian ties and keenness to bolster them in all fields.
 
The meeting covered the importance of strengthening the partnership between the two countries, and continuing coordination and consultation on various issues of mutual concern.
 
Discussions also addressed regional developments, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, with His Majesty reiterating the need to reach a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
 
Turning to the Syrian crisis, the King reaffirmed the need to reach a political solution that safeguards the territorial integrity of Syria and the unity of its people, while guaranteeing the safe, voluntary return of refugees.
 
Efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises were also discusses.
 
Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and His Majesty's Adviser for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh attended the meeting.
