King Briefed on Procedures to Facilitate Entry of Imported Goods to Aqaba

His Majesty King Abdullah II, Wednesday was briefed on procedures taken by Health Ministry and the Customs Department to facilitate entry of imported goods foodstuff to Aqaba.

Last July King Abdullah visited Aqaba Customs Department and gave orders to facilitate procedures related to goods clearing and sample testing.

During a meeting chaired by His Majesty and attended by Royal Court Chief and ministers of Finance, Industry and Trade, and Health, as well as President of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Director of Customs Department, and Department of Specifications and Standardization, King Abdullah expressed satisfaction over the procedures taken so far to facilitate the work of tradesmen and importers at Aqaba. Goods clearing and testing of samples were major obstacles that impede smooth entry of imported commodities.

During the meeting, King Abdullah gave instructions to adopt the same measures and procedures at Queen Alia Airport to importers complete their tasks easily and smoothly.
