His Majesty King Abdullah II called upon the government to find out a new mechanism for the general secondary certificate (Tawjihi) exam in a way that preserves the exam's respectable fame at the regional and international levels.
In a letter addressed to students marking the beginning of the new school year 2004/2005 on Sunday, King Abdullah ordered restructuring the secondary stage on modern bases that give students multiple choices that enable them either to find a job in the labor market or continue their higher studies at the universities according to the school subjects they have studied at the secondary stage.
In his letter, King Abdullah affirmed his deep concern and care about students, "the generation of the future through whom we can realize our vision for the future of Jordan."
The royal message will be read before students on Sunday morning.
