Royal Message to King Fahed of Saudi Arabia

Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb accompanied by Director of General Intelligence Department and Secretary of State Security Council General Saed Kheir made a visit to Saudi Arabia, Sunday during which he conveyed a written message from His Majesty King Abdullah II to King Fahed of Saudi Arabia dealing with the current situation on the Arab and international scenes with special reference to the situation in the Palestinian territories .

Abul Ragheb accompanied by General Kheir had another meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz and conveyed to him verbal message from His Majesty King Abdullah.

Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations where Prince Abdullah highly commended the close brotherly ties linking Jordan with Saudi Arabia. The two sides also discussed the situation in the region particularly the ongoing events on the Palestinian arena including the U.S. mediation efforts between the Palestinians and Israelis to help implement the Mitchell report and Tenet` memo of understanding .

Abul Ragheb outlined Saudi Crown Prince on the economic situation in Jordan and the Jordanian government`s economic and social reform plans.

Abul Ragheb, who arrived back in Amman later on the day met at his residence in Riyadh Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim al-Assaf and reviewed with him economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister also held with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal and discussed with him political developments in the region particularly in the Palestinian areas and the U.S. envoys` mission aimed to restore calm and pave the ground for resuming peace talks.

During the meeting, which was attended by General Kheir, the two sides stressed the importance of ensuring success to this mission to help bring the Palestinian and Israeli sides back to the table of negotiations with the aim of reaching a final settlement that could bring an end to Israeli occupation and secure the Palestinian people`s legitimate rights including their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on their national soil with Jerusalem as its capital.

On another development, General Kheir held talks with his Saudi counterpart Prince Nawaf Bin Abdel Aziz on security issues in the region and security cooperation between the two countries.
