King Stresses the Importance of Moving Ahead to Achieve Peace

His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed the importance of moving ahead to achieve peace in the Middle East which is desperately in need of development and an end to the cycle of violence.

In a keynote address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, His Majesty said that the road to peace is clear and the majority of Palestinians and Israelis will choose coexistence and peace that achieve security for both peoples.

The King stressed the importance of establishing a viable Palestinian state capable of providing land and employment for three million people. "Our motto is 'Jordan First.' Our country must be the first priority for its leadership and it must be the first to act, for peace and prosperity, without waiting for others to make their move," King Abdullah said.

Responding to questions of Professor Klaus Schwab , chairman of World Economic (Forum WEF), His Majesty said that opportunities of averting war have become slim under the light of continued American preparations . He pointed that stopping the war requires a miracle, yet we still hope to reach a solution, His Majesty said.

introducing His Majesty to the audience, Professor Schwab said that King Abdullah II is a Muslim and Arab leader who works for encouraging dialogue between east and west, and enjoys world leadership characterstics that could help bringing peoples of the world closer and encourage dialogue and support world peace.

He expressed regards to Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania for participation in WEF in Davos.
