King meets with U.S. Congressmen

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday stressed on the necessity of supporting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' efforts to build efficient institutions and establish a viable and independent state.



During a meeting with a delegation of US congressmen, the King said the roadmap was the way to realize a just and comprehensive peace in the region.



On Iraq, the King said Jordan backs all efforts to regain stability and security in Jordan's eastern neighbor and help its people to fulfill their aspirations.



His Majesty briefed the delegation on the outcome of his recent visit to Washington, including his talks with US President George Bush and US senior officials.



He also reviewed the Kingdom's development and reform plans. "Jordan is going a head with its reform plans in all fields, and in a way that guarantees grassroots' participation in decision-making process," He said.



The delegation, headed by Chairman of the House Committee on Rules David Dreier, includes Committee Vice Chairman Lincoln Diaz-Balart, committee members Alcee Hastings, Doc Hastings and Phil Gingrey, along with Ander Crenshaw, a member at the House Budget and Appropriations Committee. The delegation voiced appreciation for King Abdullah's effort to realize peace in the region.
