King Meets with a Number of World Leaders

His Majesty King Abdullah II held yesterday meetings with a number of world leaders taking part in the conferenceon Financing for Development which concluded in the Mexican city of Monterrey yesterday.

His Majesty met with US President George Bush and reviewed with him current developments in the Middle East and well as relations between Jordan and the US.

The King also met yesterday with US Secretary of State Collin Powell at his residence in Monterrey and reviewed with him developments in the region.

King Abdullah affirmed the importance of the US role in supporting efforts that aim at ending violence and begin the implementation of the Tenet understandings with a view to put the peace process back on its proper track. His Majesty also met with French President Jacques Chirac and the prime ministers of Spain and Mozambique. Talks during the meetings covered relations between Jordan and these countries in addition to a number of regional and international issues.
