King meets Iraqi media delegation

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday said that the success of Iraqi people in building a democratic country that plays an active role in the Arab World and the region is also a success for Jordan.



During a meeting at Raghadan Palace with senior Iraqi Journalists, King Abdullah said that the security and stability of Iraq would enhance the stability of Jordan and the whole region.



The King said that the elections held in Iraq on Jan. 30 reflected the free will of the Iraqi people. He stressed the importance of all Iraqis participating in building their country and formulating their constitution.



His Majesty reiterated that Jordan puts all its potential at the disposal of the Iraqi people to help them overcome the difficult conditions they are facing.



He said that Jordan is exerting a lot of efforts to protect the Jordanian-Iraqi border and prevent the infiltration of terrorists into Iraq.



"Jordan will always be the real supporter of Iraq and Iraqis' aspirations," said His Majesty the King.



The Iraqi delegation included media officials, chief editors of major Iraqi newspapers and chairmen and top executives of Iraqi TV stations.



A discussion followed between His Majesty King Abdullah and the top journalists and media executives on the Jordanian-Iraqi ties and the situation in the eastern neighbor.



The media delegates stated that the visit enhanced their trust in Jordan as "the real backer of the Iraqi people."



An official at the Iraqi Media and Communications Commission, Hussein Adeli, said the meeting with the King was cordial. "We are confident that ties between Jordan and Iraq will witness progress in all fields," he told Jordan TV.



Director of the Iraqi Media Network, Habib Sadr, said "we are serious in our pursuit to build a strong partnership with the Jordanian media through a long-term strategy."
