Amman
22 March 2005

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with representatives of Arab American and Muslim organizations and discussed latest regional development.

The King highlighted the important role played by these organizations to enhance dialogue and coexistence, build bridges of understanding between the followers of different faiths and cultures and reflect the true image of Islam as a religion of moderation and tolerance which rejects violence and extremism. He referred to Amman Message which embodies such values.

Jordan, said His Majesty, is going ahead with reform plans in various fields to enhance democracy and decentralization. Achieving reform in the region, the King said, needs collective efforts to combat poverty and unemployment.

In another meeting with the US Jewish Organizations representatives, King Abdullah reviewed the latest developments in the region, underlining the importance of getting the peace process back on track.
