His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed that Jordan will intensify its efforts and contacts with the concerned Iraqi parties to ensure the release of the two French journalists kidnapped in Iraq as soon as possible.

The King affirmed, during a meeting with the French Foreign Minister Michael Barnieh in the presence of Minister of the Royal Court Sameer Rifai, that kidnapping journalists violates ethics and values of justice, which are part of the principles of Islam, pointing to the important role France plays to serve the Arab issues and enhance security and stability in the region.

On his part, Barnieh expressed France's appreciation for the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah, his continuous calls to reject violence, extremism and terrorism and the support of Jordan and Arab countries to efforts being exerted to release the two French journalists Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot.

Barnieh's visit to Jordan is part of a regional tour to enhance efforts concerning the release of the two French journalists kidnapped in Iraq.
