King Inaugurates Al Wala Dam In Madaba

His Majesty King Abdullah II inaugurated on Tuesday Al Wala Dam in the Madaba governorate which was implemented by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in cooperation with the Arab Fund for Development at a cost of JD22.2 million.

The dam can hold 9.3 million cubic meters of water that will be used to irrigate lands adjacent to the valley and supply tourist and industrial establishments along the Dead Sea's eastern coast.

Minister of Water and Irrigation Dr. Hazim Al Nasir explained the goals of the project represented in collecting about 17.7 million cubic meter of flood waters in Al Wala Valley. The dams will also be used to supply Amman and Madaba with 3 million cubic meters of potable water.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb, Royal Court Chief Dr. Fayez Tarawneh and the Governor of Madaba.
