King Holds Talks With German Foreign Minister

His Majesty King Abdullah II praised the role and efforts being exerted by Germany to bring back the Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiating table.



During a meeting with the German Foreign Minister Joschka
Fischer at the Royal Court on Sunday, His Majesty expressed hope to support all international parties, especially Europe and the United States, to end the stalemate in the peace process, affirming that the continuation of the cycle of violence and the daily suffering of the Palestinian people necessitate an intensive US move to re-launch the peace process.



The King and Fischer reviewed during the meeting, which was also attended by Royal Court Minister Sameer Rifai and Foreign Minister Dr. Marwan Muasher, Jordanian-German ties, developments in Iraq and the reform process in the Middle East.



King Abdullah voiced thanks for Germany's support to Jordan especially to the developmental and economic projects in the Kingdom.



The German minister for his part, expressed appreciation for His Majesty's role in supporting peace and stability in the Middle East.



He also praised Jordan's efforts in the political, economic and social reform process. "Germany is keen to ensure that peace and security would prevail in Palestine and Iraq, and is exerting continuous efforts with the European Union to achieve permanent peace in the Middle East," Fischer added.
