King Holds Talks with Chirac and Schroeder and Meets Bouteflika

His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks last night in Georgia in the United States, with French President Jacques Chirac, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, that focused on means of supporting the peace process, the situation in Iraq and relations between Jordan and France and Germany.



The King affirmed during his meetings with the two leaders, who are taking part in the G-8 Summit, the importance of the commitment of the concerned parties in the roadmap with a view to put an end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and establish the independent Palestinian state.



His Majesty, president Chirac and Chancellor stressed the importance for the Israeli withdrawal form Gaza to be part of the roadmap.



On Iraq, the French and German leaders described the recent resolution of the UN Security Council on Iraq as a step in the right direction.



They affirmed the importance of supporting the new Iraqi government to enable it to control all Iraqi lands.



The King's talks with the French president and the German chancellor, which were attended by the Jordanian delegation accompanying the King, covered cooperation between Jordan and France and Germany, particularly aid provided by the two countries to Jordan.



The two leaders voiced their keenness to support Jordan and its economic plans and programs through swapping their countries debt with developmental projects.



King Abdullah also met with the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika who is taking part in the G-8 Summit.



The two leaders discussed bilateral ties and the current situation in the region. Talks also covered issues raised on the agenda of the G-8 Summit, particularly reforms in the Middle East.
