King Calls for Supporting Efforts to Transfer Sovereignty to the Iraqis

His Majesty King Abdullah II called for supporting efforts of the international community to transfer sovereignty to the Iraqis.

In an interview conducted by Director of Agence France Press Office in Amman Randa Habib, His Majesty expressed hope that the current talks in the United nations will result in an agreement on the timing of the transfer of sovereignty to the Iraqis.

The King added that we are in the final stages to prepare for training in Jordan a little over 30,000 Iraqis. "There will be eight-week courses, and every course will be attended by 1,500 Iraqis," he said.

The King underlined the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state by 2005, stressing the importance of supporting the new Palestinian government led by Abu Alaa to succeed.
