King Abdullah II urges for telecommunications infrastructure

His Majesty King Abdullah II Thursday urged for establishment of a telecommunications infrastructure that would ensure the Kingdom's long term needs and take in consideration the world technological changes.

His Majesty's remarks came as he chaired a meeting in the Headquarters that included His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al-Hussein, Chief of the Royal Court, and ministers of education, telecommunications and Information technology, and planning, in addition to chiefs of security apparatus.

His Majesty stressed the importance of telecommunications modernization to be in harmony with the national strategy to improve education and IT sector. He was briefed by ministers of education and telecommunications on the project linking schools and education institutes and government departments by an up-to-date and advanced net that would be a means to enable citizens all over the Kingdom deal with information technology.

His Majesty pointed out to the importance of coordination and unifying efforts of all concerned departments to benefit from the infrastructure , and to expand and update it in a way that takes in consideration the great progress in the fields of telecommunications.

He pointed out that the ministry of telecommunications is entitled to coordinate with the concerned parties in this regard. The ministry of telecommunications and information technology will present next august a comprehensive study about infrastructure development strategy for the coming years.
