King Abdullah II meets King Juan Carlos of Spain

His Majesty King Abdullah II Wednesday discussed with King Juan Carlos of Spain the serious situation in the Palestinian territories .

The two leaders reviewed the role Europe can play to end the wave of violence and to bring the peace process back to right track.

Spain , currently chairs the EU rotating presidency, where the EU General Coordinator for Political Affairs Javier Solana carried out several tours in the Middle East to find a solution for the deteriorating security situation in the Palestinian territories.

During the meeting, King Abdullah stressed the importance of intensifying European efforts to reach ceasefire, lift the suffering of the Palestinian people and create ambience proper for the resumption of peace negotiations.

The two leaders` talks touched on several issues concerning bilateral relations and means to boost them.

Earlier, His Majesty King Abdullah II arrived to Madrid in a short visit that lasted for several hours .

His Majesty is due Thursday to arrive to London, where he is expected to meet British Prime Minister Tony Blair . The situation in the Palestinian territories will top the list of topics in the talks between His Majesty and the prime Minister.
