King Abdullah II heads the Jordanian delegation to Tunisia summit

His Majesty King Abdullah II is due to head the Jordanian delegation to the Arab summit expected to be held Saturday in Tunisia.



The summit's agenda includes ten topics: the Palestinian issue, reviving the peace process, the Iraqi issue, political reform in the Arab world, Arab League reform, development of joint Arab action, development of the Arab Social and Economic Council's action, Arab human rights convention, encouraging civil society institutions' actions, making the Middle East region free from nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.



Within Jordan's efforts to make the summit a success, a human rights convention was prepared. It calls for being in harmony with international pacts and adoption of World Proclamation of Human Rights.



The Arab League sources in Tunisia told Petra that the summit's draft communique is expected tol welcome the letter of guarantees His Majesty King Abdullah II received from American President George Bush, which included establishment of sovereign Independent Palestinian state and considering final status negotiations between the concerned parties in accordance with the Security Council's resolutions 242 and 338.



The communique urges President Bush to commit himself to his vision of a viable, contiguous Palestinian state and commitment to the peace process's terms of reference represented in the UN relevant resolutions and land for peace principle, among other issues.
