Middle East Peace and Security

The friends of Middle East peace are also actively working. And today, they have an unprecedented opportunity to succeed. The basic goals are shared by people on both sides: Justice for the Palestinians. Security for the Israelis. Two states, living side by side, based on international legality. The challenge now is to help people to hold that vision – to believe in a future of peace, despite the forces of violence…


Most of us believe… if we want to have a true peace in the Middle East, it’s not Israel's peace to the Jordan River or the Golan Heights or Sinai. The true prize, I think, is for Israel to have peace in the Arab world from Morocco in the Atlantic to Oman in the Indian Ocean…


Global support for peace is more than a moral obligation. The Arab-Israeli conflict remains the region's central crisis, causing immense suffering and destruction, and holding back regional development…


In 2002, Arab countries took a bold step forward, committing themselves to a two-state solution that includes security guarantees for Israel to live in peace with its neighbours; a sovereign and democratic Palestine; and a process that leads to a comprehensive settlement, addressing the Syrian and Lebanese tracks…


Peace for us is the noblest of aims and an object of our constant and determined quest. Only peace can bring stability, security and prosperity to our part of the world. It can pave the way for regional cooperation, open borders and joint coordination for the benefit of all the peoples and states in the region…
