King Returns Home After a Brief Visit to Kuwait

His Majesty King Abdullah II returned home after a brief visit to Kuwait where he held talks with the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah.

The talks focused on mechanisms of promoting relations and cooperation between Jordan and Kuwait in addition to the latest developments relating to Palestine and Iraq.

His Majesty and the Emir of Kuwait underlined the importance of continuing consultations and coordination between the two countries with a view to develop bilateral cooperation in the political, economic and security fields.

During the talks which were attended by Royal Court chief and the King's advisor for tribal affairs, the two sides agreed to hold a meeting for the Joint Jordanian-Kuwaiti Higher Committee in mid October to complete discussing aspects of joint cooperation especially in the trade, investment and cultural fields.

The King praised the distinguished level of Jordanian-Kuwaiti relations in all fields.

Discussions also covered the situation in Palestine and the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The two leaders stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to end the Israeli blockade and occupation and resume peace talks in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.

His Majesty and Sheikh Jaber expressed hope that Iraq's acceptance of the return of weapons inspectors will ease tension in the region and avert Iraq a military strike.

The Kuwaiti Emir who saw off His Majesty sent a cable to the King in which he expressed happiness for His Majesty's visit to Kuwait. He said that the visit will have good results that will reflect positively on bilateral relations and serve the interests of the Arab and Islamic nations.

Sheikh Jaber voiced hope that such visit would continue with a view to promote relations and achieve aspirations of both peoples.
