King Holds Talks With Bahraini Monarch
Amman, 5 March 2002

His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifah of Bahrain held talks Tuesday in Manama on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and coordination of Arab stands before the upcoming Arab summit in Beirut.

King Abdullah congratulated Sheikh Hamad on the proclamation of Bahrain as a constitutional monarchy.

Sheikh Hamad voiced his appreciation for His Majesty`s stands and Jordan`s support for Bahrain.

The two leaders touched on the dangerous situation in the Palestinian territories and the continuing Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people.

The two leaders also urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility to stop the Israeli aggressions against the defenseless civilians, calling on Israel to respond to Arab initiatives to end the cycle of violence and return to the basis of peace adopted by the international community.

They considered the initative by Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz as an embodiment of an Arab desire for peace and Israel must respond to it.

The two leaders touched on efforts exerted to unify Arab stands and come out with a united Arab stand in Beirut`s summit.

Talks also dealt with a number of issues of common interest between the two countries.

His Majesty was seen off by Sheikh Hamad after a short visit.
