King makes unannounced visit to refugee camp, Salt
Baqaa, 17 December 2013
His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday made a surprise visit to Baqaa refugee camp and the Civil Defence Department in Salt as part of a series of visits to check on the situation of citizens in the wake of a wide-scale blizzard that paralysed public life.
In Baqaa, 13km north of Amman, King Abdullah listened to a briefing on the situation of the camp after the snowstorm by officials from the Foreign Ministry’s Palestinian Affairs Department and the camp committee.
His Majesty issued directives to supply people with all the relief aid needed.
In Salt, the King urged concerned authorities to coordinate their efforts to address the consequences of the three-day blizzard and directed them to keep opening the snow-blocked roads to facilitate normal daily life.
His Majesty on Monday visited the Jordan Armed Forces’ Southern Region Command a day after a similar visit to the northern military region and an unannounced visit to the Interior Ministry’s command room on Saturday.
The King directed officials to distribute food assistance and all forms of help to areas worst hit by the storm that started Thursday.
