King Abdullah to travel to China, New York
Amman, 8 September 2013

His Majesty King Abdullah will pay a working visit to China next week before heading to New York to participate in the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting.

The two visits are part of King Abdullah’s consultations and coordination with international centres of influence on a variety of Middle Eastern issues, mainly the Syrian crisis and Palestinian-Israeli peace talks.

While in the People’s Republic of China, the King is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi Jinping and high-ranking officials that will focus on means to enhance bilateral ties as well as international and regional developments, especially the situation in Syria and efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East on the basis of the two-state solution.

In New York, His Majesty will head the Jordanian delegation to the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, where he is scheduled to deliver an address outlining Jordan’s position on regional developments and challenges, mainly the Syrian crisis and peace efforts.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the King will meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and a number of world leaders and high-profile political and international figures taking part in the assembly meeting.
