King to take part in Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Riyadh

His Majesty King Abdullah will participate in the third Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Riyadh, upon an invitation from Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz to attend the two-day summit.
Arab leaders are scheduled to discuss the Arab power grid, railway link, food security, and customs union. The summit’s agenda also features resolutions on unemployment and poverty, education development and improvement of healthcare services in the Arab world. The meeting will also discuss the revised Unified Agreement for the Investment of Arab Capital in the Arab States aiming to encourage the transfer of capital to Arab countries and the protection of investments.
On top of the agenda is the Arab strategy to develop renewable energy utilisation for the years 2010-2030, ratified by the Arab Electricity Council to enhance usage of renewable energy, build national capacities and encourage exchange of experience in this regard.
Several Arab leaders are scheduled to participate in the meetings.
Summit goals include discussing investments in the Arab world, enhancing Arab economic cooperation and creating an economic base for supporting the region’s economies.
Twenty-one Arab countries have confirmed their plans to attend the summit, according to the Saudi foreign ministry.
