King discusses region, ties with Romanian foreign minster
Amman, 11 October 2012
His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean, who is currently visiting the Kingdom as part of a regional tour.
King Abdullah called for improving the trade and economic ties with Romania with the help of the private sector in the two countries through activating the work of the Jordanian-Romanian Business Council. The King also underlined the need to improve bilateral ties at all levels, citing cooperation opportunities available in the fields of health and primary healthcare.
His Majesty stressed the importance of fostering efforts to reach a political solution that will end the bloodshed and preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and the unity of its people.
His Majesty urged the international community, including the EU, to continue supporting Jordan’s “huge” efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees, whose number topped 200,000 in the Kingdom.
The King also acquainted the Romanian official with efforts exerted to bring about peace in the region and resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, including the final-status issues, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that lives side-by-side with Israel.
The meeting was attended by His Majesty's Office Director Imad Fakhoury and the Romanian Minster's accompanying delegation.
