King holds talks with Dagestani president
Amman, 8 October 2012

His Majesty King Abdullah warned on Monday of the negative impact of Israeli measures targeting holy places in Jerusalem on the chances for peace and stability in the entire region.

During a meeting with President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov, King Abdullah reiterated Jordan’s rejection of any attempt to violate the sanctity of religious sites in Jerusalem, highlighting the Kingdom’s efforts to protect Muslim and Christian sites in the Old City.

The King and Magomedov also discussed means to boost bilateral ties.

His Majesty outlined opportunities to activate cooperation with the Republic of Dagestan in economic fields to increase the volume of trade with the participation of the private sector.

Talks also focused on regional developments and issues of mutual concern, particularly those of interest to the Islamic world.

The King highlighted the role of the Amman Message in showing the real image of Islam and focusing on the common values among followers of different faiths.

The meeting was attended by Royal Court Chief Riyad Abu Karaki, Director of His Majesty’s Office Imad Fakhoury and Dagestani delegates.

Magomedov invited the King to visit Dagestan.
