Title: The letter of His Majesty King Abdullah II to His people on Labour Day
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Peace, God's mercy and blessings be upon you,
It pleases me to express to you and to our nation's labourers, in all their work places, our pride in them and our appreciation of their work, while we celebrate this day which was marked by our country as a day for labourers that signals our Jordanian Family's respect for labourers, and gratitude for their vital role in development and building our national renaissance.
Today, while I greet and congratulate every brother and sister in the national labour community on this special occasion, I would like to affirm that our National Agenda, which is in its final stages of preparation, has devoted to labour and labourers a rather wide sphere of its concern and in its major themes.
Fighting unemployment in all its forms and aspects is for us a major priority, since we are charting now, within our National Agenda, plans and programmes to create more job opportunities, and upgrading the efficiency level of the Jordanian labourer through rehabilitating and training him, and through linking the outputs of education and training with labour market's needs and requirements, inside our country and outside.
I trust and hope that our National Agenda will come up with basic solutions for many challenges and problems that face the labour sector.
Again, I reaffirm my pride and your country's pride in you, and our appreciation for your good efforts and the way you give to your country; and we congratulate you on this occassion and wish you many happy returns.
May God guide us all to success in serving our beloved Jordan; and God's peace, mercy and blessings be upon you.
Your brother
Abdullah II Bin al-Hussein
